This pattern showcases six special blocks. Whether made with Shiva Paintstiks and rubbing plates as shown here, or selected by fussycutting a special fabric or embroidering your own special designs, the design gives importance to these blocks by combining them with checkerboard blocks as shown in the photo.

Fabric Requirements
- Large scale focus print or hand painted squares ½ yard
- Coordinating black or very dark fabric (solid or nearly solid) 3 ¼ yards
- Light coordinating solid or nearly solid 3 yards
- Medium value coordinating small scale print ¾ yard
Quick quilt version, using Fabric 4 for outer border instead of flying geese: Fabric 1 – ½ yard; Fabric 2 – 1 ½ yard; Fabric 3 – 1 ¼ yards; Fabric 4 – 1 ½ yard
